Brookstone Church, formerly (107+ yrs) North Asheville Baptist Church, has long stood as a testimony to God’s faithfulness since our church was called into existence in 1910. First located on Forsythe Street in North Asheville, the church was a satellite of First Baptist Church of Asheville. NABC grew in membership and influenced the community with the Gospel of Christ.
In 1969 the church body began to grow and a need for a larger facility to reach more people with the Gospel became apparent. This led NABC to go forward in faith as a 3.5 acre tract of land was purchased near highway 19/23 and UNC-Asheville. Construction ensued and on Easter Sunday, 1972 NABC held its first worship service at that location.
In August of 1989 Jim Dykes was called as pastor. The years proceeding have been ones of significant growth and change. In 1994 NABC purchased eight acres at our current location. The first service was held January 1, 1996 in the brick building. Such growth occurred that two Sunday morning services were required and eight more acres of land were purchased due to projected growth.
In 2001, the church fellowship moved once again, into a multi-purpose building and continues to meet there today. The brick building now houses North Asheville Christian School, established in 1999 as a ministry of NABC. NACS partners with parents in the discipling and instruction of nearly 200 children in K4-12th grades each year.
We are currently in the process of building on the 100 acres 6 miles north of our current location. Our relocation plans will enable our church family to reach thousands of people with the Good News of God’s love for them in Christ! NACS will become Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy and will become a stand alone private christian school. As of Easter 2017, NABC will become Brookstone Church.
NABC has planted multiple churches in and around Western North Carolina and in Eastern Tennessee. Taking from the experienced learned from those Church Plants, NABC stepped back and re-engineered our Church Planting Vision. Our first Church Plant Launch under the new vision will take place in early 2017 and that is Table Community Church in Greer, SC.
